STEM passion week

For the last 3 days of Term 3 we had Passion Week. The junior students who chose STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) came to Room 7. Our favourite activities were sticky ice and the ping-pong rollercoaster.
Building our roller coasters

Picking up an ice-cube with a piece of string (no hands)!

The supply teacher

This week Mrs Squire and Whaea Helen both relieved in Room 7. They taught us a lot of interesting things about space and we did some creative artwork.
When Mrs Bingham came back on Friday she was really pleased with us!

Our poem this week was called 'The Supply Teacher':

Here are some of our illustrations:

Cupcakes, science and logging trucks

We made delicious cupcakes on Tuesday and decorated them beautifully.

Emily came for a visit to do some science with us. She taught us about acids, bases and neutralisation. We liked watching the paper change colour and we were very good at making predictions.

Then we went on a bug hunt. They were hiding from the rain so it was a bit tricky to find them.

On Friday Northland Wood Council brought two massive logging trucks to school. They taught us how to be safe around trucks. We got to sit inside the truck and we even blasted the horn. It was loud!

The story of Rona

Whaea Lucinda played the story of Rona for us and we had to listen carefully and draw what we heard. Then we wrote about our picture.

Crazy Hair Day and First Aid

We had Crazy Hair Day to raise money for Daffodil Day.

Whaea Nikolai from St Johns taught us what to do if somebody is unconcious. We also found out how important it is to know our full address in case we need to dial 111 for an emergency.
