The Duffy show, writing and construction

We have only been back at school for one week but a lot has happened!
The Duffy Theatre Show, Duffy and the Cloakbay Bully, was highly entertaining. Here are some photos:

There was an impromptu tower challenge in Room 7 on Friday and the height of the towers was impressive.

In writing, we are learning to use detail so the reader can make a mind picture. Aurora did this very well by using lots of adjectives in her story:

Author visit

As part of the Duffy Books in Homes programme we had a visit from June Pitman-Hayes. She entertained us with stories about her childhood and even sang us a song!

Winners

Room 7 were happy winners on Friday. Yozarna received a certificate for working with others to help them with their learning, Aurora was chosen from the crowd for her awesome clapping and Evo's name was drawn from the 'Caught being good' box so he got to spin the wheel for a prize.

We have technology

This week we got 6 iPads AND an interactive TV in Room 7. We were all super excited and had a quick game of Kahoot to celebrate.

#getnzwriting

We have had fun writing personal metaphors to share with a class at Lynmore Primary School in Rotorua. Our postcards have a message when put together.

We also took a photo in front of our favourite place at Kaikohe West School - the swimming pool.

Tena koe, tena korua, tena koutou

We have started visiting Room 13 on Fridays and they are helping us with our te reo. This week we learned how to say hello to groups of people.
