Passion Week

We spent the last week in Room 6 making stop motion movies. We worked in teams. First we had to plan our setting and characters and make them. Most of us painted our settings and chose Lego or clay for our characters. Here are some examples:

Dead Pool by Lyncon, Lytrell and Tarelle:

Knight vs Knight by Moko:

Spy Girls by Huntah-Rose, Twinkles and Catherine:

Spongebob saves the world by Ryan and Zeke:

Freaky Spooky House by Shikaia, Gwendoline, Lexus and Kataraina:

The Hunger Games by Jaydyn, Bjorn, Breyton and Haki:

Frankenstein is Alive by BJ, Seddon and Moko:

Minerś Fight by Bjorn, Breyton, Jaydyn, Haki and Tommy

Killer Worm by Manuera, Sean and Tommy:

Connecting to self

We are learning to use a range of strategies to help us understand what we are reading. Making connections is when we make links between what we already know (our prior knowledge) and the text.

The Part 1 Journal group read an article called Going to School in Taiwan. They made charts to show what they do each day so they could compare their lives with the students in Taiwan.

Speedball and feelings

Drew (Mrs Bingham's 16 year old son) spent the day with us on Friday and taught us a new game called Speedball. We showed lots of talent and football skills when we played.

This term Mrs Bingham is reading The BFG by Roald Dahl. We had to describe how we would feel if we were Sophie when this happened:

In the moonlight, Sophie caught a glimpse of an enormous long pale wrinkly face with the most enormous ears. The nose was as sharp as a knife, and above the nose there were two bright flashing eyes, and the eyes were staring straight at Sophie. There was a fierce and devilish look about them. (Page 4)

Chrystal and Jorjaś descriptions really showed how afraid they felt:
