Matariki

We started our Matariki topic by creating a collaborative poster.

We also read the Stolen Stars of Matariki by Miriama Kamo.

Goal setting

It is report writing time and we have been setting goals in class as part of our student voice on our school reports. We collaborated and brainstormed some ideas to share. 

Patterns

We have been experimenting with tapa cloth patterns this week using crayon and dye.

Explorers

This term we have been learning about Maori arrival in New Zealand and Polynesian explorers. Brosnan made a waka out of recycled materials:

We have also been learning about Abel Tasman along with students all around New Zealand as part of #NZReadAloud.
One of the tasks was to draw a map showing Tasman's first journey to New Zealand in 1642.
