Music week and korero ki te tuhi

 We had a musical week in Room 3 with raps, waiata and piano solos. Here are some videos:

School yearbook photo

This year Whaea Raewyn is organising a school yearbook. It is a lot of work! Room 3 posed for a class photo to go in the yearbook. It will be a great memento. We had 3 people away, it is hard to get a photo with everybody in it!

Friday Fun and Gardening

 We planted some seedlings in our class garden this week. 

On Friday we had some choosing time - we played Kahoot, did some painting and drawing and made music.

Cake Stall and Water Safety

We had a cake stall on Friday and thanks to a generous travel subsidy from Surf Lifesaving NZ we now have enough money for our bus to Ahipara.

We also had a water safety lesson where we learned how to identify a rip and what to do if you need help in the water. We practiced the HELP position (heat escape lessening position) to keep ourselves warm.

The Whale

 We 'read' a fabulous picture book this week called The Whale. There were (almost) no words in the book! We were able to tell the story using the incredible illustrations.

Scavenger Hunt, Unwanted Visitors and Dinosaurs under the bed!

We have been learning to write instructions. On Thursday we did a scavenger hunt looking for bossy words (imperative verbs) in our class library. 

The Level 3 Reading Group read about Unwanted Visitors by Michele Boston in the School Journal Part 2 Number 3 2008. The article provides information about the different kinds of wasps found in NZ but focuses on the Asian wasp. They made posters to warn people about them:

Jayden was inspired by a stop motion animation Mrs Miller shared with us called Dragons under the Bed. He made his own version - Dinosaurs under the bed! You can check it out on his blog: https://kwsjaydent.blogspot.com/. I'm sure he would love some comments on his awesome mahi. 

Virtual visitors for the Storylines Northland Story Tour
